The Gothic Line - 80 Years On

On 26 August 1944, British troops of 46th Division crossed the River Metauro in Italy as part of Operation OLIVE, the assault on the Gothic Line. My wife Gillian and I visited the villages of Monte Gridolfo and Mondaino to join in their commemoration of the liberation of their communes. We were there two years ago to participate in this annual event, the 80th anniversary event was very special and thanks to the local communities for making us feel welcome, especially Goffredo Chiaretti and Diego Tommaso
